“A designer who is not a couturier, who hasn’t learned the most refined mysteries of physically creating his models, is like a sculptor who gives his drawings to another man, an artisan, to accomplish.- Yves Saint Laurent
The Saint Laurent fashion show during PFW (Paris Fashion Week) was the place to be. Basically, there weren’t enough seats for the who’s who in the fashion world; like most shows going on around the artsy city. Hedi Slimane, the new creative director of Saint Laurent sent the woman down seriously resembling attractive sexy witches donning huge black hats. Slimane is a fan of photography so the camera really loved these clothes! Also, the lines’ rock and roll look makes it so desirable and youthful. And what better music to serenade this fashion show but rock and roll by the Daft Punk band! Overall, I think these looks are fierce and can be easily put together with creativity and a little imagination!!! How do you think Slimane did with his debut line at Saint Laurent? Please let me know! Until next time…rock on!!!!!
I’m always finding a best dressed woman; so now I’ve found a star that’s landed on numerous lists for best dressed man! A long time ago, men and fashion didn’t go together but now men are setting trends all over the world. David Beckhams’ top-notch looks and outgoing personality shows through the wardrobe he keeps.
Beckham said it best, “I like nice clothes, whether they’re dodgy or not!” This fashion icon switched from sports to runway and is still staying humble all the way. He has been judged by media on being thick; or not smart but it shows in his actions that he is very intelligent. The fashion icon looks great in plaid, which has been a big trend in male fashion for months. You see men all over the television rocking plaid shirts. David is also pictured below appearing in a classic look and I love the picture of himself and his stylish wife Victoria.
“I get my ideas out of my dreams…..if you’re lucky enough to use something you see in a dream; it is purely original. It’s not in the world it’s in your head. I think that is amazing.-Alexander Mcqueen
So New York Fashion Week, now branded Mercedes Benz Fashion Week has come and it has gone. However, every single designer that participated in the show did a great job and I have not had a chance to go through all the lines but I have a mix of content.
Rebecca Minkoffs’ clohing line was inspired by looks from the 60’s and 70’s. Minkoffs’ line this year left spectators longing for the need of that past-due vacation!! Her pieces were practical and can be put together very easily. With a blend of floral and solid pieces it makes a good combination of balance.
The black and white Oscar De La Renta pant suit is characterized with uptown swish and wild style. Oscar De La Renta has become and is still becoming a house hold name. Anne Romney wore ODLR when she went to the Republican convention.
Alexander McQueen has been mourned throughout the world and still his legacy lives on through his clothing. McQueen was named by Queen Elizabeth the Commander of the British Empire 2003. How validating is that?! Theatricality is the adjective that most describes McQueen he has a look that is described as a horror.
Karl Lagerfield theme was based off of the Fortress of Solitude in the Superman movie. Lagerfield said it best, “nature’s the greatest designer.” The models eyebrows were a mini version of the bigger them; with crystals bordering their arch hand glitter landed on their eyelids. Lagerfield mastered the three-piece coat which he had attempted but this year he nailed it!
Narcisso Rodriguez got his name recognition when designed the wedding gown for Carolyn Bassestte who was marrying John F. Kennedy Jr. back in 1996. He was on the fast track to American Fashion and worked his way up to own fashion line in Milan. He is known for his fine lines and pure forms. I love the two dresses they are sexy and sophisticated and plus it leaves much to the imagination.
Gucci has that aristocratic look. The reason why Gucci carries such an aristocratic look is because Guccio Gucci used to work at the most famous Savoy Hotel in London and worked closely with aristocrats and he saw how luggage played a big part in that culture. Now I can understand why his suits are fit for a politician.
The VMA’s (Video Music Awards) were rocking or so I heard because I haven’t had time to watch them as of yet. I did however make the time to see who was voted best and worst dressed. The first up is engaged couple Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose who let her baby bump show through her lace. The next up is Virginia finest Chris Brown who is decked to the tee and he cleans up well!
So of course behind every good man is a good woman. The next up for best-dressed is Ri-Ri in her white frock; she proved that simple is still in style and that white can be worn after Labor Day! Okay Miley Cyrus looks so good with her new haircut she is totally owning it and it comes through in her fashion picks.
Now for the worst dressed and first up is my girl Nicky Minaj who always seems to land on the worst dressed list but let me tell you she has a bad shape on her! I think they mad at the velvet. The next up is Ne-Yo who they argued wore clothes that were out dated. Well I beg to differ the fatigues were way cool. Now Alicia Keys could have done better. I know the crowd wanted to see more of her curves but she’s un-predictable. Now last but not least is Tyga and he landed on this list for so many reasons.
“Her godmother simply touched her with her wand, and, at the same moment, her clothes were turned into cloth of gold and silver, all decked with jewels.” -Charles Perrault
I was flipping through the new In Style magazine checking out the trends for the fall, and honestly I was tired of the same old- same old. I was looking for some trends that really popped not anything classic but something fresh; something we needed! So I turned passed Gucci, Chanel and Calvin Klein but when I ran into the be-jeweled trends that are hitting the streets Lanvin did it on them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets take a look!
The most important thing about jewels is how to wear your hair! The sleek look is what you have to wear according to In Style magazine. Do not, I repeat; do not overdue the accessories. Too many accessories with this dress would be overkill! Lol! So ladies season and holidays are upon us and these looks are easy to create at home so DIY or hit the stores! Until next time XOXOXOXO! Oh shop Lanvin at http://www.lanvin.com/e-lanvin/INT/.
I don’t know who invented high heels, but all woman owe him a lot.-Marilyn Monroe

Well, Marilyn (RIP) with all her beauty didn’t have time to do her homework; but I did. High heels are dated way back to 4000 BC. The most talked about high heel was at the wedding of Italian born Catherine de Medici to the Duke of Orleans in France. However, the talented Leonardo da Vinci is rumored to have invented the high heel. Here are a few of my favorite heels starting out with the Dior sandal at the top which you can get at www.dior.com. I love the Gucci sandal because of the sexy chain which you can go to www.gucci.com of course and purchase it.

Now, I promised an affordable shoe that’s Beyond and affordable too so I was rummaging around and found this shoe which is the perfectly named “Cat” shoe…Meoooow! It’s the neutral shoe shown at the top and the bottom. This shoe would drive any outfit up to the next level! It’s by our favorite fashionable blonde Jessica Simpson and it can be bought at www.jessicasimpson.com for $110.00.
Now I had to throw up these Manolo Blahniks’ just because…dreams do come true LOL! I love the aqua stones and the shimmer gold just makes it pop even more. You can find it under new arrivals at www.neimanmarcus.com. Now ladies and gentleman what do you think makes up a good high heel!? Happy shoe shopping!!
“It’s all a game with new rules every season.”-Stefanno Gabbana
It’s an accessory type of Friday if you ask me; so I wanted to over-do it a little. I was recently reading up on these two fashionable fellers Stefanno and Domenico in a Bazaar magazine and they have inspired me to write about their clothing line for spring/summer 2012. So, Stefanno Gabbana and Domenico Dolce have been designing from Italy since 1982 where they met at a mutual fashion house.
They started out with a leotard line and now it has spiralled into a monstrous fashion house that brought in over 600 million dollars in 2003 alone. They state that the Italian feast encouraged this line with fruits and veggies appearing in a lot of the material. This line is Everything (the website will take your breath away) so let’s see some of my faves…
