New York Fashion Week and Mercedes Benz Fashion Week!

Published September 22, 2012 by Your Fashion Accessory

“I get my ideas out of my dreams…..if you’re lucky enough to use something you see in a dream; it is purely original.  It’s not in the world it’s in your head.  I think that is amazing.-Alexander Mcqueen

Happy Saturday!!!!!!

So New York Fashion Week, now branded Mercedes Benz Fashion Week has come and it has gone.  However, every single designer that participated in the show did a great job and I have not had a chance to go through all the lines but I have a mix of content.

Rebecca Minkoffs’ clohing line was inspired by looks from the 60’s and 70’s.  Minkoffs’ line this year left spectators longing for the need of that past-due vacation!!  Her pieces were practical and can be put together very easily.  With a blend of floral and solid pieces it makes a good combination of balance.

The black and white Oscar De La Renta pant suit is characterized with uptown swish and wild style.  Oscar De La Renta has become and is still becoming a house hold name.  Anne Romney wore ODLR when she went to the Republican convention.

Alexander McQueen has been mourned throughout the world and still his legacy lives on through his clothing.  McQueen was named by Queen Elizabeth the Commander of the British Empire 2003.  How validating is that?! Theatricality is the adjective that most describes McQueen he has a look that is described as a horror.

Karl Lagerfield theme was based off of the Fortress of Solitude in the Superman movie.  Lagerfield said it best, “nature’s the greatest designer.”  The models eyebrows were a mini version of the bigger them; with crystals bordering their arch hand glitter landed on their eyelids.  Lagerfield mastered the three-piece coat which he had attempted but this year he nailed it!

Narcisso Rodriguez got his name recognition when designed the wedding gown for Carolyn Bassestte who was marrying John F. Kennedy Jr. back in 1996.  He was on the fast track to American Fashion and worked his way up to own fashion line in Milan.  He is known for his fine lines and pure forms.  I love the two dresses they are sexy and sophisticated and plus it leaves much to the imagination.

Gucci has that aristocratic look.  The reason why Gucci carries such an aristocratic look is because Guccio Gucci used to work at the most famous Savoy Hotel in London and worked closely with aristocrats and he saw how luggage played a big part in that culture.  Now I can understand why his suits are fit for a politician.

Good evening my loves,
